Thomas Antal

Thomas specializes in high conflict situations as well as family mediations and he believes in the alternative dispute resolution as method for conflict resolution.

He received extensive training in Civil and Family mediation from the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) as well as the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia (CLEBC). With his trainings in psychology, law and experience working in a financial institution he has a well-rounded knowledge to understand the complexities of conflict and the emotional state of people that a conflict creates, the passion that drives them and why they do what they do. Thomas is thorough at understanding the history behind the conflict and the meaning the issue presents to his clients. He has a warm yet pragmatic approach and ensures that at the end of the process each party walks away feeling satisfied with the result.

If you have been considering mediation or arbitration or have been asked to mediate or arbitrate, then the following may be of interest to you.

The mediation, arbitration and communication processes focus on you. It is important that when you are participating in a mediation or arbitration you feel heard, you feel like what is important to you matters. Thomas ensures that during this process everyone feels understood and feels heard the fullest extent possible. He assists parties to also hear and understand each other’s perspectives. Thomas’ philosophy is that with proper communication almost any conflict can have a mutually beneficial resolution. Thomas also providies divorce coaching and guiding families through the uncoupling process.

Mediation:

Thomas believes that understanding people’s perspectives goes a long way in a mediation. The difference between the need for face-to-face mediation, shuttle mediation or if mediation is even right in that situation is something that will be discussed during the initial contact.
